Influenced by 80s and 90s alt-rock bands, California-based HUNNY has one motto–to make music forever! “We just want to grow this thing as much as we possibly can and be the biggest band possible. And just have fun and do it forever,” the band expressed. Composed of lead singer and guitarist Jason Yager, guitarist Jake Goldstein, drummer Joey Anderson, and bassist/keyboard player Kevin Grimmett, Hunny released their full-length debut, Yes Yes. Yes. Yes. in 2019.

Gearing up for their brand new release with Epitaph titled Homesick, Hunny collectively made nearly 100 demos over the pandemic. “We’re working on more songs at once right now than we ever have before,”, the band said. Collaborating again with Carlos De La Garza, Homesick includes four songs and forthcoming music visuals, along with an ideal tour coming this fall/winter. It begins with the punk-rock leading track “Homesick” and concludes with the up-tempo song “Speed Dial.”

The Sonder Bombs have doubled down on their second record. 2018’s debut MODERN FEMALE ROCKSTAR was their first bet: an all-caps attack against a male-dominated scene brandishing a ukulele and dry wit as chosen weapons. A year and some change passed, where the Cleveland band’s relentless touring ethic and tough love caused a homegrown fan base to explode worldwide. Clothbound, like the title suggests, weaves a different narrative—one of loss, letting go, and losing patience with losers. If the first record introduced unapologetic sensitivity, Clothboundsearches for the root causes of other key elements.

Produced in Philadelphia during quarantine with Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Beach Bunny, Modern Baseball), Clothboundcaptures a band burning at both ends.

The Sonder Bombs' upbeat mixture of ukulele-driven melodies and distorted guitars is the brainchild of vocalist Willow Hawks and her partner in crime Jimmy Wilkens. The two began writing and recording songs in their bedroom studio in Lakewood, Ohio in early 2016. Wanting an even more aggressive sound, they brought in drummer Eric Heald which added an entire new dynamic to the band’s unique style now called “uke-punk.” Hawks’ stunningly powerful voice sings of serious topics ranging from sexual abuse to how women are treated in the music scene. The band’s name comes from the definition of “sonder,” which is the awareness that each passerby is experiencing a life as vivid and complex as your own, and that sudden realization can hit you like a bomb. The Sonder Bombs carry a message of social consciousness all while delivering a high-energy emotional performance. The Sonder Bombs quickly took over the local scene with the release of their self-titled EP in 2017. Following the release, the band performed as local support for incredible artists including The Drums, Prince Daddy & The Hyena and Bren Lukens of Modern Baseball. Later that year, they released a single titled “Switzerland” leading up to playing Snowed In Music Festival alongside PUP, Adult Mom, Diet Cig and more. Eager to tour, the band embarked on an overwhelmingly successful DIY run spanning Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey along with the release of another single titled “Shitty Boyfriend.” The new single, released in March 2018, landed itself on Spotify’s “Punk Unleashed” & “New Punk Tracks” playlists and also garnered the attention of national and international press including Gold Flake Paint and Alternative Press. The Sonder Bombs recently recorded a full-length album at Compass Audio with producers Steve Perrino and Madeline Finn. The album is the band’s best work yet and they plan to release it later this year.
