Born from the womb of Y2K techno paranoia, dance-punk mega duo DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 have been a cathartic through-line since 2001. Every now
and then they come to fly their jumbo jet sound into the skyscrapers that the zeitgeist has erected. You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine (2004), The Physical World (2014), Outrage! Is Now (2017) and Is 4 Lovers (2021), now in 2026 they once again blast off celebrating their 25th anniversary with a fifth LP, Private Lives, slated for a fall release. They’ve survived CDs, MP3s, pirating, streaming and AI slop undeterred and have delivered nothing but musky power-cock riffs, psycho tenor wails and frenetic juvenile delinquent rhythms. Will you join them on tour? Will you submit yourselves to the all-natural sound? Honk once for YES, honk twice for HELL YES.

It’s been one hell of a wild ride for Wine Lips. Originally formed in Toronto back in 2015 as a part-time project between Cam Hilborn (vox, songwriter, guitar) and drummer extraordinaire Aurora Evans, Wine Lips quickly escalated into a full-blown, full-time, full-on international phenomenon.

In 2020 the band used their mandatory downtime to fully dedicate themselves to crafting their groundbreaking third full-length “Mushroom Death Sex Bummer Party”. The record was released in October 2021 and then sh*t really hit the fan. The international music press lost their collective minds, penning over 250 glowing reviews. The album blasted past 20 Million spins on Spotify. The vinyl release of MDSBP is currently in its 7th pressing with 9 different colour variants. The lead track “Eyes” has been licensed to a metric ton of films, series and video games. Even more endless touring ensued, except this time the venues were huge and mostly sold-out.

Which brings us to the new record… “Super Mega Ultra” is an absolute beast. Recorded by Simon Larochette at The Sugar Shack in Ontario, the album is jam-packed with 12 ramped-up supersonic ear-scorching auditory delicacies. SMU is probably Wine Lips’ most ambitious undertaking to date, exploring new thematic territory while firmly maintaining their signature psych garage punk rock panache. Y. The wild ride continues!
