Somewhere in Pennsylvania a lightning bolt strikes a dusty old record collection; fusing together a vinyl beast of classic rock, soul, and funk — breathing life into an electric sound that is somehow both entirely new and distinctly familiar. The music of Stone Throwers draws from a wide range of musical traditions, filtering them through the lenses of song-writing and personal experience. Soulful melodies, powerful brass, smooth keys, and percussive guitar are glued together in a pocket of tight drums and thick bass. The end result — a vibration that lifts your heart and moves your feet.
This July, Stone Throwers will release their debut album “Sounds Like Music” recorded live right here in Pittsburgh — at their new home, The Vault Recording Studios. They’ll be joined by friends new and old for an electrifying night of Original Pittsburgh Music.

Each song is a unique blend of genres taken from each members’ musical influences while planting roots in jam band and pop music. They are known for their high-energy live performances and close knit fan base.

Forged in the University of Pittsburgh DIY scene, Moontown has made a splash with their debut album “Are there any places that you frequent in your dreams?” and has since made the jump from basements to big stages with appearances at Millvale Music Festival and many of Pittsburgh’s historic venues. This show will be their Thunderbird debut, so make sure you get out early to hear the freshest vibes the city has to offer — you’ll be glad you did.
