With Piecing It Together, their fourth full-length album, Free Throw grapple with hard truths. After three albums and a decade of hard work, including countless performances worldwide, the members — Cory Castro, Lawrence Warner, Justin Castro, Jake Hughes, and Kevin Garcia — have a fresh perspective on life. The band is through obsessing over what comes next and romanticizing the moments that have already passed. Instead, Free Throw is making music about the present and how seeking balance in our lives is far more meaningful work than the endless pursuit of whatever you deem to be ‘enough.’
Can’t Swim make music without care or concern for genre classification. The New Jersey band — Christopher LoPorto (lead vocals), Mike Sanchez (guitar), Danny Rico (guitar), Greg McDevitt (bass), and Michael Sichel (drums) — only concern themselves with the connection they have to listeners. Their songs are a rich tapestry that details the human experience, flaws and all, through a variety of sounds. For them, the creative process is more about capturing a feeling or idea than conforming to something quickly packaged and sold. It’s about being present in the moment and doing whatever they can to help others do the same.
Emo/pop-punk/power-pop/rock’n’roll band from the city of Toledo, Ohio
Early Humans make music about the moments in life that they wish could last forever. Each song is a time capsule containing all the feelings and thoughts that cause the members — Hart Williams, Ryan Vaniman, and Marcus Wikham — to feel alive. There is hope and heartache, as well as rage and ecstasy, all stemming from the frustrating understanding that this too shall pass faster than we know.
